Our summer wine club shipment includes three different premium offerings from Lailey and Stonebridge (2 bottles each).
First, is our best selling 2019 Stonebridge Chardonnay. This wine is made from Chardonnay clones 95, 96, 548 and 76 of Stonebridge Estate vineyard. The grapes were hand-harvested into small bins and kept clonally separate, then pressed and wild fermented in 33% new French Oak puncheons and barrels. The low-intervention, wild fermentation took 2 months to complete. Wine completed its malolactic-fermentation at its own pace during this time. This small batch was aged a total of 22 months in barrel before bottling.
This wine has developed a complex nose of citrus and apple with hints of quince supported by a well blended bouquet of spices and vanilla. The acidity is fresh, hinting a long finish.
"Fruit is fully into the orchard spectrum with ripe peach, yellow apple and pear purée flavours framed by a slight volatile lift on the finish. Oak and lees remain the major components of the long finish. Surely an ambitious style, pushing the envelope for the region"

We are also very excited to include the recently Gold awarded and first wild fermented red of the Lailey portfolio in our 2021 Lailey Wild Ferment Malbec. Harvested on October 8th, 2021 from the regal old vines on our Lailey estate. This cool climate Malbec went through extended wild fermentations in small micro-cuvées and spent 22 months in French oak barrels.The result is a blue-fruit driven, medium-bodied wine with a smooth and elegant profile. We have included it in the Summer shipment due to its pairing potential with any number of grilled foods - from grilled portobello mushrooms to kababs off the BBQ.

Finally, we couldn't leave out arguably the best and most sophisticated summer sipper in our 2022 Lailey Field Blend. This unique wine is a combination of Chardonnay (approximately 50%), Pinot Noir (approximately 40%) with the small remainder being made up with Muscat and Sauvignon Blanc. The volumes are approximate because the nature of the field blends are that they are harvested, pressed and fermented together.
"It’s a fruit bomb on the nose with layers of apples, apricots, peaches, nectarine, and subtle ginger notes. It has a rounded, creamy texture on the palate, a touch of residual sugar (*only 4g/l) and overflowing with ripe orchard fruits, apricot tart, ginger, honeydew melon, elderflower, and plenty of zip on the juicy finish."
